Specialist CourseNerikomi & Marbling
8th January - 26th February 2027 | Fridays
9:30am - 12:30pm and 1pm - 4pm | Carolina Pik
Over eight weeks, you’ll learn how to combine coloured clays, starting with simple marbling and gradually developing more intricate patterns and designs.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWAbout the Course
Learn one of ceramics’ most satisfying techniques, where colour and pattern are built into the clay itself rather than painted on. Over eight weeks you’ll go from simple marbling to intricate patterned designs, and finish with a small collection of pieces you’ve designed from the inside out.
Some of the most striking Nerikomi patterns take time to plan and build. That’s what this course gives you. Suitable for beginners, with plenty of room for more experienced makers to push further.

You should wear comfortable clothes which you don’t mind getting a bit of clay on! Layers can be a good idea as temperatures can be a little variable. All students should wear comfortable, flat shoes with non-slip soles and covered toes, and bring an apron/cover-up. Long hair should be tied back for wheel work. We also recommend that jewellery, watches and other valuables are left at home.
